Traveling Safely in the New Year of 2021
As the holidays come to an end, and 2020 closes a chapter, we excitedly welcome the year 2021 with open arms. We’re sure that everyone is eager to have a “do-over” and has some new and thrilling resolutions, like traveling more and visiting places they’ve never been. However, let’s not forget the times that we’re currently living in. With the pandemic still happening, traveling has never been more up in the air. Whether you feel safe enough to travel via plane, or would prefer to drive to your destination, we want to make sure that you know what to do in order to keep you and your family safe while traveling.
Be prepared and mask up
Just because 2020 is over, doesn’t mean that rules and regulations are out the window. If anything, they will be more strict to prevent more cases in 2021. When packing for your trip, pack a few extra masks and hand sanitizer bottles– Because you can never be too safe. If you plan on flying, be well prepared to know the safety precautions of each airport and destination that you will be visiting. You will almost always need to wear a mask in order to step foot into an airport or airplane, so wear your most comfortable mask that you know you can tolerate for a long period of time. This goes without saying, but don’t forget to practice proper handwashing/sanitizing before and after using the bathroom, eating, or touching surfaces. If you are flying in or out of Tampa International Airport, you can read all about their current efforts to stop the spread, and what you can expect from them by clicking here.
Consider Driving
Although flying seems like a quicker resource for travel if you prefer to stay on the ground and are taking extra safety precautions, driving is always an option! Turn your travel plans into an unexpected road trip with the family, or a friend, and enjoy not worrying if you can snag a window seat on a plane. Plus, you won’t have to deal with any headaches of flight cancellations or delays. Perhaps just the occasional traffic. Just be sure to follow the rules of the road, and be familiar with your surroundings. If you are unsure of where you are or need directions, pull over and take a moment to find out.
Hotels or Rental Homes
If you don’t have family or friends to stay at while traveling, obviously you will have to find a hotel or Airbnb for the duration of your stay. It’s important to research way ahead of the time of booking your travel plans so that you can make an informed decision on where to stay. Consider reviews that talk about cleanliness and covid precautions that are in place, and don’t be afraid to call them and ask any questions that you might have! We also encourage that you still wipe down all surfaces when arriving at your hotel or Airbnb, just to ensure enhanced sanitation.
